Piano pit stop open for local Walsall pianists!
Piano pit stop open for local Walsall pianists!
Shop, stop and play as the Saddlers Centre introduces a piano pit stop to the mall for anyone to play!
Talented Walsall musicians or even budding little artists in the making are welcome to come along and tickle the ivories, every day, at the new public piano. Who knows what you might hear when you next visit the Saddlers Centre; the familiar tune of the Eastenders theme song or a more emotional, inspiring concerto.
Don’t forget to share your performance with us on social media with the hashtag #Saddlerspiano. There will be on the spot prizes for sharing your talent with us too!
The public piano is located by Costa Coffee on Park Mall and is the perfect spot for a cuppa, cake and chance to listen to talented local people play.
Mel Glasby, Centre Manager for the Saddlers Centre commented, “We’ve had the piano on the mall some years ago and it’s great to bring it back as it was very popular! We’ve received nothing but interest and positive comments as we installed the piano, with people stopping and wanting to play as soon as it arrived. It adds some ambience and interest to the environment and I’m looking forward to hearing people play!”
Our thanks go to Andrew Clayton, Director of Music at St Matthews Church who launched the piano pit stop with some fabulous tunes to entertain shoppers recently. It has certainly got people talking and c a buzz to the Centre. One lady commented that: “It’s a fabulous idea. I see pianos at big train stations in Europe as I now live in the Netherlands, why not in Walsall!”
